John Edwards is Chairman of the Litigation Section at Martin Snow, LLP. Mr. Edwards’ practice has been almost exclusively in the insurance defense litigation since 1972, and he has extensive experience in litigating all types of personal injury claims including premises liability, automobile personal injury, products liability and medical malpractice. He has represented MAG Mutual Insurance Company, the doctor formed and owned insurance company in the State of Georgia, since its inception in the early 1980s. In addition to defending third-party claims, Mr. Edwards has defended first party claims on coverage issues as well as claims for bad faith damages. Mr. Edwards also has experience in a wide range of business litigation including landlord/tenant relations, condemnations and agricultural commodities.
Mr. Edwards is a 1968 graduate of Emory University cum laude and a 1972 graduate with a J.D. Degree from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University where he graduated magna cum laude and first in his class. In law school, Mr. Edwards was on the editorial board for the Mercer Law Review (lead article editor) and was a founding member of the Brainerd Currie Honor Society. He is a member of the Macon Bar Association (president 1984-1985), the State Bar of Georgia, and the Federal Bar Association. He has served as a Special Master for the State Disciplinary Board. Mr. Edwards served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Walter F. George School of Law from 1974 to 1975. He is a Barrister Emeritus in the W.A. Bootle American Inn of Court. Mr. Edwards is also a member of the Defense Research Institute and served as Vice President of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association from 2001 to 2003. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel and the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia. Mr. Edwards is also a member of Cambridge Who's Who (outstanding lawyer of the year in medical malpractice for 2009) and a member of the US Supreme Court Historical Society. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Georgia's Super Lawyers and the National Directory of Who's Who.
Mr. Edwards also served as attorney for the Macon Chamber of Commerce for the year 1993-1994.
Mr. Edwards is a member of Idle Hour Country Club, the Macon Chamber of Commerce, the Macon Civic Club and Vineville United Methodist Church. His hobbies include flying, golfing, fishing and hunting.
