James J. Parks is a partner in the Southfield office of Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss. He is a member of the Firm's Litigation Group with a national practice including complex litigation, traditional labor and employment law. Before practicing law Jim worked as a Federal Agent for the National Labor Relations Board in Los Angeles. Since 1981 Jim has represented clients before myriad State and Federal Courts throughout the United States on various complex litigation matters including: intellectual property rights, international transactions and contracts, bullet resistant armor, Uniform Commercial Code, theft of rare artifacts, probate matters, traditional labor law and employment.
Jim currently is serving his third term as a Board Member for the Oakland County Bar Association. He also serves as a Discovery Master and Case Evaluator for the Oakland County Circuit Court. Earlier he hosted the TV show "The Lawyers Roundtable" and served as chair for the Lawyer Referral Service and the Circuit Court Committees of the Bar Association. Jim was elected as the Michigan State Bar delegate for the 6th Circuit Court. Mr. Parks is also the recipient of the 2010 Bar Professionalism Award.
Jim earned his Bachelor's degree through the Honors Program at the University of Arizona. He earned his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law, located in Malibu Beach California.
